The Dell technical representative told him this was a known issue with this model printer and how to fix the paper detection problem. I thought I might have an out-of-box-failure on my hand and was about to call Dell when a co-worker informed me that he had the same problem with another install of the same model printer, (actually six other installs to be honest.) He had called Dell too thinking he had an out-of-the box failure. Mind you, this was a brand new, out-of-the box printer. The problem was that when testing, it would print a couple of pages and then give an error message that the paper tray was empty even though it wasn't. The physical install went fine as so did the configuration. They didn't need a major printer so this model was just right for the workload. Recently I ran into an issue with a Dell B2360dn printer that was installed in a small lab.
